Aggregate Logs
Configure your apps and services, hosting services, and integrations to send logs to Papertrail. For common configurations, you can find step-by-step instructions directly in Papertrail. Or look at the subtopics under “Aggregate Logs” for details of various configuration scenarios, including Unix and BSD system logs, Unix and BSD text log files (remote_syslog2), Windows and AppOptics integrations.

Send logs for analytics

SolarWinds Security and Support
With the SolarWinds Unified Login, users can securely access any SolarWinds cloud-based Application Management product and any organization you are a member of using one set of credentials. Administrators can securely control access to your organization’s Papertrail data or use the common settings for SolarWinds Application Management products to assign organization and product roles to users.

Why Papertrail?
Papertrail solves four problems with text data:
- It sits on filesystems where nobody sees it, and is not easily consumable via the Web, command-line, API, or email, let alone by whole teams.
- One needs to know what to look for. There’s no easy way to see “everything new or strange,” yet that is what’s most useful.
- Related data is split across multiple apps, directories, and systems. They can’t easily be managed by content (username, IP address, message ID) instead of by source.
- The single datacenter (“behind the firewall”) is dead. Everyone distributes datacenters, servers, clouds, and slices now.
