Logs can be spread across multiple load balancers in your environment.
HAProxy logs include several fields with connection and request data, but there’s often too much data to analyze.
Troubleshooting and spotting problems before they affect users is hard without customizable alerts.
HAProxy includes native support for sending logs to a syslog server like SolarWinds® Papertrail™, making it simple to aggregate your load balancer logs in one place for easy storage and analysis. Use the Papertrail single interface to analyze logs from all load balancers in your infrastructure and uncover insights in your traffic. Create a log destination in your account and immediately start sending logs. You can send logs directly to Papertrail by adding a new syslog server entry to the HAProxy configuration file. Alternatively, you can forward local log files or have the system syslog server forward logs.

Pause, search, and filter log messages in real time, and watch as searches and filters get applied to both existing log messages and the incoming stream of events, so you don’t need to choose between the two of them. With clickable log elements, you can seamlessly navigate through massive amounts of log data. Click on IP addresses, UUIDs, times, and user IDs to see all related log messages and quickly analyze HAProxy traffic. Filter out routine events by exclusion searches, so you can focus on only the most important log data.

Save your most important searches for later use or turn them into alerts and receive notifications when they’re matched with new messages. Schedule alerts to run every minute, hour, or day, and get notifications via email and communication tools such as Slack, PagerDuty, Campfire, or your own custom web hooks. You can even get notified when an event doesn’t happen by creating inactivity alerts. Use alerts to periodically monitor your HAProxy load balancers and learn about infrastructure issues before your users.
