My Favorite Dip Pens
My favorite dip pens on black velvet.
Rare real tortoiseshell twisted handle with sterling silver.
Miscellaneous Dip Pens
This is my favorite of all dip pens. A young woman's face is done in ivory while the rest of the pen is made of ebony. The ebony protects the delicate face on the back of the head with a large bow.
Here are some wonderful treasures from the past. One is a watch chain pen with ink bottle fob. It comes apart (at right) for carrying by links of chain. The end link is pulled out and contains the nib. The other two barley-sugar twist holders carry their own surprises.
This is a favorite pen of mine, but it was difficult to photograph because of its delicate nature. The gold nib is protected by the hand with its lace cuff. The hand is very detailed even down to the ring on one finger and the intricate lace design on the sleeve. There is a small decorative button on the back that allows the nib to retract under the hand. Ivory makes up the shaft of the holder and on the end is a seal of a woman's face. She looks like a young Queen Victoria.
